Why it is renowned
FRAMA has made the Shelf Library since 2016 and marked its tenth year in 2026; it quotes Andrew Trotter, co-founder of Openhouse Magazine, on how its oak ages over time.1 Vogue Scandinavia chose it for its edit of the Copenhagen home of FRAMA's founder in 2021.2
The story
The system goes back to the simple shelving sold in Danish hardware stores in the 1930s to 1950s; copies of those early shelves still turn up at auction.1 Kim Richardt redrew it for FRAMA in 2016, keeping the idea and refining the details.1 It is built from sections: single, double and triple, with add-on, hanger, desk and canvas cabinet sections, in two heights and widths of 40, 60 and 80 cm.1 Most are in natural oak; a double section also comes in stainless steel.1
