Why it is renowned
Bolia has 85 stores in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg and France, and more than 450 dealers in 51 countries.1 It has been recognised at the Global Retail Awards, the Global E-commerce Awards and the International Effie Awards.1
The story
Bolia started in Aarhus in 2000 as an online shop and has opened its stores since 2013.1 Lars Larsen Group, the family company behind JYSK, bought it in 2005.1 More than 50 designers from 19 countries draw its collection, among them the Danish duo Glismand & Rüdiger, the German studio kaschkasch and the Spanish architect Ramón Esteve; for more than 19 years the Bolia Design Awards have given young designers a start.2 The international headquarters and the flagship store are in Aarhus.3
