Why it is renowned
Toms announced Chocolate Origins for the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes, the travel-retail trade fair, in October 2005, with a gift box holding all three first tablets for travel retailers.1
The story
Toms launched Chocolate Origins under the Anthon Berg name in 2005: three dark 100 g tablets from three continents, Ghana, Ecuador and New Guinea, with 60 to 72 per cent cocoa.1 The Ghana bar held roasted cocoa nibs from Forastero beans, the Ecuador bar blended Nacional and Trinitario beans, and the New Guinea bar was made from Trinitario beans.1
By 2010 the series also counted milk chocolate tablets.2 The four bars were Ghana 60%, Ecuador 72%, New Guinea 72% and Venezuela 44%.3
