Why it is renowned
Sögreni builds the Young Shatterhand as its quick bike for the city: a low balance point and 26-inch wheels let it turn in narrow places and sprint.12 In December 2014 Virtuoso Life, the magazine of the American travel agency Virtuoso, featured it among Danish design classics by Arne Jacobsen, Hans Wegner and Hay.3 Søren Sögreni calls it the best mix of use, design and riding pleasure the workshop has made.12
The story
Søren Sögreni has said the love for the Young Shatterhand began with the first one the workshop finished, many years ago.1 It is built to the measurements of a road bicycle, ridden upright, on 26-inch mountain-bike rims with a sprung Brooks saddle.12 Sögreni calls the women's frame unisex, having noticed that a growing number of young men ride it, perhaps because it is easy to get on and off.1
Each bike is fitted out to the buyer's choice before it is built: five frame sizes from 48 to 63 cm, one, three or a stepless gear hub, eight colours in matte or gloss, and a Sögreni bell in one of four metals.1
