Why it is renowned
In the mid-1990s the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk asked Søren Sögreni to design a bicycle for the museum, and the result became part of its permanent collection; a Classic has also been shown at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa, Japan.12 VisitCopenhagen points visitors to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art as a place to see one.3
The story
The Classic has no gears and no extras as Sögreni first drew it: a frame, a handlebar, two wheels and a saddle.1 It is built to order: buyers choose one of five frame sizes, one, three or nine gears and one of the colours, of which aluminium grey is named Louisiana.42
