Why it is renowned

Purifi's amplifier technology sits inside products from some of the best-known names in hi-fi. Marantz developed the power stage of its Model 10 amplifier in partnership with Purifi,¹ and the German maker T+A builds its Symphonia amplifier on customised versions of Purifi's Eigentakt Class D design.² The two co-founders set out the company's research into loudspeaker distortion in the trade journal Voice Coil in 2021, republished by audioXpress.³

The story

Purifi was founded by Bruno Putzeys and Lars Risbo, with Peter Lyngdorf, owner of DALI and Steinway Lyngdorf, as co-founder and investor.⁴ Putzeys had invented the UcD amplifier at Philips and the Ncore amplifier at Hypex; Risbo had founded Toccata Technology, later bought by Texas Instruments, where he became a TI Fellow.⁴³ The company is based in Roskilde.⁵

Eigentakt, Purifi's patented Class D amplifier topology, is sold as drop-in modules and licensed to other makers as designs.⁶ Ushindi is its line of drivers from 4 to 8 inches, with the PureDrive motor system and the NeutralSurround suspension, sold as products and as licensed technology.⁷
