Why it is renowned
The online magazine Digital DJ Tips reviewed the TMA-2 DJ Wireless and measured 9 ms of latency through its transmitter, in effect none, calling the headphones a smart, effective way to DJ without a cable.1 It found them loud, punchy and well isolated, and better suited to the DJ booth than AIAIAI's earlier studio wireless model.1
The story
The headphones are built from the same parts as the wired TMA-2 DJ, which has been used on stages for more than a decade, with new S11 speaker units and an X03 transmitter that plugs into the DJ gear.21 AIAIAI's W+ Link keeps the delay under 10 ms by compressing the audio to 320 kbps, and the battery gives more than 20 hours in W+ Link mode and 40 over Bluetooth.21
The 40 mm drivers have bio-cellulose diaphragms tuned to bring out bass and treble in loud rooms, and the on-ear cushions are memory foam covered in soft PU leather.2 The whole set weighs 217 g.2 With the cable plugged into the left speaker unit they work as ordinary passive headphones, and owners of any TMA-2 can turn theirs wireless with an upgrade kit.12
