Why it is renowned
Kiin Kiin held one Michelin star from 2008 to 2023 and has been in the Michelin Guide since 2007; it was the only Thai restaurant in Scandinavia to hold a star.1 The guide still lists it, with Thai and contemporary as its cuisine.2 Condé Nast Traveler names it among the best restaurants in Copenhagen.3
The story
Lertchai and Henrik Yde-Andersen run Kiin Kiin on Guldbergsgade in Nørrebro.1 The name means "come and eat" in Thai, and the dining room is a dim basement.2 The kitchen takes local Thai dishes and makes them with fresh Danish produce and Thai spices; the rooms are furnished in smoked mango wood and ceramics.1
Dinner opens with street-food snacks served fast in the lounge, followed by a menu of seven or eight courses at the table.1 The house also runs a food truck and a catering side, and has published a cookbook.1
