Why it is renowned
The MICHELIN Guide includes Herman K in its hotel selection for Copenhagen.1 The conversion of the building won the Renover Award in 2019.2
The story
The hotel fills a transformer station built in 1963 near Kongens Nytorv, behind a façade of dark bronze louvres.12 It was converted between 2016 and 2018, keeping the concrete structure and adding green courtyards and terraces.2 Brøchner Hotels opened it in 2018 as its first five-star hotel, and gave up running it in 2020.3 Today it belongs to Bühlmann, a Danish hotel group based in Aalborg.24 Inside, raw concrete and iron meet deep carpets and marble bathrooms set in cubes, and the lobby holds a 3D-printed metal sculpture by the artist Pio Diaz.1
