Why it is renowned

Guldsmeden runs its own hotels outside Denmark: Oslo Guldsmeden, Lulu Guldsmeden in Berlin, the John & Will Silo-Hotel in Bremen, Villa Libellule in Menton on the Côte d'Azur, and Chapung Sebali near Ubud on Bali.¹ Its hotels hold the international Green Globe and Green Key certifications.²³

The story

Sandra and Marc Plesner Weinert opened the first hotel in 1999 in Guldsmedegade in Aarhus, the street that gave the group its name.³ The first Copenhagen house, 66 Guldsmeden on Vesterbrogade, followed in 2002; Axel Guldsmeden came in 2007, Babette Guldsmeden on Bredgade in 2015, Manon Les Suites in 2017 and Bryggen Guldsmeden on Islands Brygge in 2020.³ Abroad, the Oslo hotel joined in 2010, the Bali resort opened the same year, the Berlin hotel in 2016, and in 2024 the group opened a hotel in the former Kellogg's silo buildings on Bremen's harbour.³ Sustainability has been a founding principle since 1999; the hotels follow organic practices and carry the Danish Golden Ø label.²
