Why it is renowned
glerups names the Slip-on its best-selling model: a felted wool slipper with an open heel that is quick to put on and take off.1 In a review first published in 2018 and updated in December 2019, the travel magazine AFAR wrote, after a month in a pair, that glerups slippers may be the ultimate travel footwear; the review lists the open-heel shoe among the three adult designs.2 The slippers carry Cradle to Cradle Certified Bronze.1
The story
The Slip-on goes back to the first pair of slippers Nanny Glerup made for her husband Ove more than thirty years ago.1 The upper is felted from the house's own mix of New Zealand wool, which keeps it soft and free of itch; every pair is designed in Denmark and made at glerups' factory in Romania.1 It comes with a sole of soft, chrome-free calfskin for indoors, or of FSC-certified natural rubber for wearing outside.31 Colours run from the classic grey to newer shades such as sand, and adult sizes from EU 35 to 51.31
