Why it is renowned

To Øl brews a wide range of craft beers and exports to more than 40 countries.1 It has worked with brewers abroad, among them Estonia's Põhjala, Norway's Lervig and Scotland's BrewDog, and co-owns bars and shops in Denmark, Iceland and the Faroe Islands with Mikkeller.1

The story

To Øl, Danish for "two beers", was founded in 2010 by Tore Gynther and Tobias Emil Jensen, who began as "gypsy" brewers making their beer mainly at De Proefbrouwerij in Belgium.1 In 2016 they opened the BRUS brewpub in the Nørrebro district of Copenhagen, and in 2020 they started their own brewery, To Øl City, in an old factory at Svinninge.1
