Why it is renowned
Ale No. 16 was judged Denmark's best beer in 1997, and in 2000 it took third place in the world.12 VisitDenmark names it as the reason the small Funen brewery is one of the best known in the country, and notes that its ales are now sold nearly everywhere in Denmark.3
The story
John Rasmussen first brewed Ale No. 16 in 1995.2 The brewery counts it as its national breakthrough and part of the start of the Danish beer revolution.2 It is a dark, top-fermented ale made with original English yeast, at 5.7 per cent alcohol.1
