Why it is renowned
Hr. Frederiksen was the first Amager Bryghus beer to enter RateBeer's top 50.1 On the strength of it the brewery partnered with Shelton Brothers and began exporting to the United States.1 The brewery says that once the beer reached an American list of the world's 50 best beers, the American craft beer market asked for it, and the brewery's aims grew beyond Amager.2
The story
Amager Bryghus brewed the imperial stout among its first beers, and named it for Peter Frederiksen, a friend of the two founders who spent a year helping them set up the brewery.12 The brewery still counts it among its classics, with RyeKing and Black Nordic Skies.3
