Why it is renowned
SHE pays tribute to women artists of the 1930s, among them Sonia Delaunay, Aino Aalto, Anni Albers, Ray Eames and Agnes Martin, and the American design site Design Milk covered it at its launch in 2024.1 It was Ege Carpets' first designer collection in its WOOL100 range of pure new wool.1
The story
Laura Bilde and Linnea Blæhr shaped each of the six patterns by hand from collages, so the lines keep small irregularities, and the colours come from 1930s functionalism.12 The patterns reinterpret weaving structures, expressionist forms and simple graphic compositions of the 1930s and 1940s.2 The carpets are made in 100 per cent new wool spun in Ege's own mill from long, hard-wearing fibres.21
