Why it is renowned

Dolly won a red dot design award and an iF product design award in 2010.1 In McBride's words, quoted by Dezeen in 2009, its organic form began as a blob drawn on a napkin and was very hard to make in ceramic with a wall between the salt and pepper chambers.2

The story

The Tokyo designer Ross McBride designed Dolly for Normann Copenhagen. It was a porcelain cruet set: one rounded U-shaped piece, divided inside into two chambers for salt and pepper. Dezeen presented it in November 2009.2 By 2026 it was no longer in Normann Copenhagen's range.3
