Why it is renowned

The British interiors magazine Livingetc named the Petalii floor lamp its best in lighting in the Style Awards 2024; the judges likened it to a tulip bowed after a rainstorm.1 The same awards named it best floor lamp.2

The story

Nika Zupanc, born in Ljubljana in 1974, studied at the Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts and Design, set up her own studio in 2008 and works from London.3 For Nuura she drew Petalii, a collection built on the form of a flower in bloom, which also holds a small pendant and a ten-light chandelier.45 The floor lamp is made of metal: a slim stem in polished brass curves down into a white shade, with the bulb set in the centre of the bloom.5 It stands 170 cm tall and reaches 107.5 cm out.5
