Why it is renowned

Renoir is the oldest design Sika-Design still makes.1 It is part of the Originals collection, introduced in 2007 for the company's own rattan designs from the 1950s and 1960s.12

The story

The company, then called Sika, drew the Renoir in 1956, five years after it moved to Funen and began making furniture.1 The chair is a woven rattan shell that hangs from a rope fixed to the ceiling.2

It is made by hand by wicker makers from Indonesian rattan, in natural or antique brown.2 Since 2015 the Exterior collection has carried outdoor versions of the Originals designs.1
