Why it is renowned
The MN was Marc Newson's bicycle for Biomega.1 SFMOMA acquired an MN02 bicycle, of aluminium, rubber and phosphorescent plastic, for its collection in 2000.2 The Victoria and Albert Museum in London holds an MN02 Bonanza, designed in 1999, and shows it in its Design 1900 to Now gallery.3
The story
The MN was one of the two models that launched Biomega in 2000, alongside Jens Martin Skibsted's CPH, and Marc Newson formed its frame in one piece from superplastic aluminium.1 Biomega no longer made it; its range came down to the BER e-bike.4
