Why it is renowned
The LDN was Ross Lovegrove's design for Biomega, billed for city use. Its carbon-fibre frame had no down tube and a hole through it to make the bike lighter, and it had a shaft drive and hub gears.1
The story
Lovegrove first drew the bike for Biomega as the RL01 Biolove, in the same bonded superplastic aluminium as Marc Newson's frames, with the idea that it could hang on a living-room wall.2 The design was later renamed London, or LDN, reworked and made in carbon fibre; only a few prototypes were ever built.2 Wired reported on it in August 2010.1
