Why it is renowned
The Silverback 1 won the EISA award for wireless on-wall loudspeakers of 2023-2024, given by the Expert Imaging and Sound Association, an international body of specialist technology magazines.1 System Audio designed it for smaller rooms and simpler setups.2
The story
The Silverback 1 is a compact wireless speaker from System Audio. Its slim cabinet, close to the size of an A4 sheet, measures 21 by 32.5 by 13.5 cm and has a wall mount built in, so it can stand on a shelf or hang on a wall.2
It is a two-way design with a 5.5-inch Silverback woofer and a 1-inch soft-dome DXT tweeter, and it plays from 45 Hz to 25 kHz.2 It has no cables to an amplifier: it receives sound wirelessly over WiSA HT from System Audio's Stereo Hub HT or Surround Hub, which also handles streaming, a television and wired sources such as a turntable.2 It comes in white or black satin.2
