Why it is renowned
The Frida won the Statement in High Fidelity 2025 award of the magazines High Fidelity and HIFI Statement.1 Stuart Smith reviewed it for Hifi Pig in January 2025, found it balanced from top to bottom and gave it the magazine's Editor's Choice award.21
The story
Casper Vestskov Poulsen, the company's founder, designed the Frida in 2022, aiming for a bookshelf speaker that reached down to 30 Hz.2 It was the first speaker in which SV-Audio's sound, materials and look came together as a finished product.3
Its front baffle is machined on five-axis CNC machines on Bornholm from aircraft-grade aluminium, with a radiating pattern meant to help the sound.2 Behind it sit a silk-dome ring radiator tweeter with a neodymium motor and a mid/bass driver with a woven, self-reinforced polypropylene cone, joined by a crossover of low-resistance parts and wired inside with silver-plated copper.3 A dedicated stand completes it, and the cabinet comes in a range of lacquers, with any automotive colour on request.3 The name comes from the Old Norse fríðr, meaning beautiful and beloved.3
