Why it is renowned

The British magazine The Ear reviewed the TDAI-3400 in 2020, with the optional analogue input board and Lyngdorf's CD-2 player; the reviewer was impressed by its sound from disc and from the built-in streamer, and by how finely RoomPerfect lets an owner shape the sound to a room.1 It is Lyngdorf's most powerful amplifier, giving 200 watts a channel into 8 ohms and 400 into 4.2

The story

Lyngdorf introduced the TDAI-3400 in 2017, an amplifier with a DSP, voicing filters, a streaming player, modular options and RoomPerfect calibration.3 Its amplification is digital from end to end: the digital signal drives the loudspeakers directly, with no digital-to-analogue conversion in between.2

RoomPerfect, Lyngdorf's own room correction, measures the listening room with the supplied microphone at several positions and then corrects for the room.21 Optional modules add an analogue board with balanced XLR and moving-magnet phono inputs, and an HDMI 2.1 board with eARC.2 The player takes Roon, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect and AirPlay 2, and a digital crossover allows three output settings for speakers and subwoofers.2
