Why it is renowned

The CTA15 was the amplifier Copland started with: a valve power amplifier of two times 12 watts, introduced in 1984.12 Much of it was built on printed circuit boards, which cut the hand labour a valve amplifier usually needed and brought its price within reach of many listeners in the 1980s.1 Copland's chronological list of its amplifiers opens with it.3

The story

Its production began in 1985.1 It carried six valves: four EL84 output valves and two ECF80s.1 It was followed by the CTA10 in 1985 and the CTA10 MK2 in 1987.3 Copland now keeps it in the archives of its site; it is no longer made.1
