Why it is renowned

Michael Fremer reviewed the Odin with the Galder turntable in Stereophile's Analog Corner, noting that the arm can share the Galder's air supply or be bought on its own with a supply of its own.1 Hifistatement reviewed the Odin in 2018, and Hifi.nl, Audio Gallery and Hifistatement again in 2023 and 2024 with the Galder.2

The story

The Odin is named for the chief god of Norse mythology.31 As a linear-tracking arm it follows the groove in a straight line, the way the record was cut, so it has no tracking error; floating on air, it touches the turntable only through the stylus and the arm wire.3

The air pipe is fixed at both ends for stiffness, on a base plate that slides to set overhang and level, with the VTA plate raised or lowered on pillars. The arm tube, of aluminium and carbon, is a double tube damped between its layers, the counterweight is decoupled from it, and the wire runs in one piece of pure copper litz from the cartridge clips to a DIN socket.3 Its effective mass is 14 g.3
