Why it is renowned
The Giant Top is the toy that turned Gonge from a publisher of teaching materials for Danish preschools into a maker of toys for play and movement; the maker calls it the company’s tipping point.1
The story
Gonge sells the Giant Top today as the Top, models 2100 and 2101, for ages three to ten.2 One or two children sit inside to rock it from side to side or spin it, build a den with it, or, with an adult watching, float it in a pool as a boat.2 It is made of strong plastic for indoor and outdoor use and is also used in basic coordination training for people with disabilities.2
