Why it is renowned
The German fashion magazine TUSH interviewed Jane Kønig about her work, calling the Danish designer's jewellery balanced between bold and soft, modern and classic.1 Vogue Scandinavia names her in its A–Z of Nordic jewellery brands, for graphic collections that mix classic pearls, agates, brushed surfaces and small stones, from heavy chain necklaces to engraved bracelets.2 Customers can also have pieces made to order at its Copenhagen studio.2
The house shows its collections to international buyers at CIFF, the Copenhagen fashion fair, and VisitCopenhagen lists its shop for visitors to the city.34
The story
Jane Kønig, a goldsmith born in Copenhagen, opened her first jewellery shop in the centre of the city in 1989.5 She still leads all design and draws every piece at her workshop in central Copenhagen.5
Her work pairs old and new: antique gemstones set with modern materials, and leather or bone found on her travels combined with diamonds and other stones.4 The pieces are made by hand.4 The shop is at Gothersgade 54.4
