Why it is renowned

Nimb is known abroad as the hotel inside Tivoli. Condé Nast Traveller ranked it 40th on its list of the best hotels in the world in 2009, and in 2015 the hotel association SLH named it its Hotel of the Year among 520 hotels in 82 countries.¹ It is the only hotel in Denmark to have been named a Condé Nast Traveller Triple Crown winner in both the British and the American editions, for appearing on the Hot List, the Gold List and the Readers' Choice Awards.²

The story

The building was designed in Moorish style by Knud Arne Petersen, architect and director of Tivoli, and opened in 1909 on the site of the garden's earlier bazaar.¹ It takes its name from Wilhelm and Louise Nimb, a Copenhagen restaurant family whose daughters ran it when it opened.¹ After a long renovation it reopened in 2008 as a hotel with restaurants.¹ It has 38 rooms and suites looking over Tivoli, a 300 m2 spa with a hammam, and a rooftop terrace with a pool.²³
