Why it is renowned
The MICHELIN Guide gave Allinge Badehotel one MICHELIN Key in 2026.12 Its inspectors describe 24 rooms in a renovated 18th-century house, furnished by contemporary Danish designers, on the Baltic island of Bornholm.1
The story
The house was built in 1774 and is one of the oldest buildings kept in Allinge.2 King Frederik VII and Countess Danner stayed here on 11 August 1851.3 The house was later known as Byskrivergaarden, and in the 1980s Tom and Lisbeth Panduro opened it to guests.2 It is owned today by Cathrine Andersen and Christian Rasmussen; from the 2026 season Madeleine Tejnby and Christian Milling run the hotel day to day.2 The rooms keep the original half-timbering and low ceilings, with furniture by contemporary Danish designers, and have no television.23 Breakfast is organic and local, the garden looks east over the Baltic, and the hotel is open from May to September.2 A sauna by the water opened in 2026.4
