Why it is renowned

In 2024 the British magazine Junior gave it joint gold for Best Children's Eco Fashion Brand at its Junior Design Awards, its judges citing clothes made to last.12 The house opened its first flagship store in London in 2023.2

The story

Wheat was founded in Denmark in 2002, and its first hand-drawn floral prints came the same year.2 The prints of flowers, leaves and animals take their cue from Scandinavian children's stories set in fields and forests.2 Thermal clothing followed in 2012 and became its bestseller; footwear came in 2021 and rainwear with a water-based coating in 2024.2 The company, Wheat A/S, is based in Gentofte north of Copenhagen.3
