Why it is renowned

Georg Jensen Damask names Abild, with the Northern Light bed set, among the best-known designs of Bent Georg Jensen.1 The house calls the striped tea towel a classic of its collection and still weaves it in several colours, among them dark blue, walnut, flint grey and carmine red.2 In 2016 the American design site Remodelista put it first among 11 Scandinavian kitchen essentials its editors use, and called it a Danish icon.3

The story

Bent Georg Jensen (1923–2014) drew designs for Georg Jensen Damask until 2011, all built on the old craft of weaving and minimal damask patterns.1

Abild is woven from 50 percent linen and 50 percent cotton, a mix that dries well, and measures 50 by 80 cm.2
