Why it is renowned

The Multi-Lite is the lamp Louis Weisdorf is best known for, together with his Turbo and Konkylie pendants.1 GUBI's Multi-Lite hangs in Chloé stores around the world.2

The story

Weisdorf, a Copenhagen architect who had worked for Verner Panton and Poul Henningsen, drew the Multi-Lite in 1972.12 Most of his lamps repeat one element many times; this one breaks with that habit.3 Two cylinders form the body, and a metal ring holds two quarter-sphere shades.3 Turning the shades sends the light up, down or out at an angle, so the user sets the lamp.32 GUBI makes it as a pendant, a floor lamp, a table lamp, a wall lamp and a portable lamp.2
