Why it is renowned

The Beetle is the chair GamFratesi and GUBI built a working partnership on, and it has grown from one dining chair into a family of dining, meeting and lounge versions.12

The story

GamFratesi, the studio of the Danish architect Stine Gam and the Italian architect Enrico Fratesi, conceived the chair in 2013.2 Its forms are inspired by nature.1 The first chairs were upholstered; a shell of matt polypropylene came later, in seven colours and on several bases.1 Further versions followed: a swivel meeting chair, a moulded veneer shell, and the softer Beetle Soft.12
