Why it is renowned
Great Ash is known for its depth and softness: a wide seat with deep cushions filled with down under Eilersen's own down top, set against a supporting back.1 The base is moulded so that it and the seat cushions read as one piece.1 Because it is built from modules, each sofa can be put together for its room.1
The story
Jens Juul Eilersen, who drew Eilersen's sofas from Stratos in 1979 onwards, designed Great Ash.12 It comes as a fixed two- or three-seater in four sizes, and as sections and footstools in 21 sizes and shapes, with a chaise among them, so it can be fitted to a room.1 The fixed cushions can be mixed with smaller loose pillows, and the standard seat height of 40 cm can be raised by 2 or 4 cm.1
