Why it is renowned
DPA announced the 6388 CORE+ from Kokkedal on 1 September 2026 and showed it for the first time at IBC 2026; Mix reported the launch.1 Its capsule sits off the usual axis, so the sound stays steady when the headset shifts during a performance, and it is meant for theatre, sport and broadcast, churches and conferences.1
The story
The 6388 builds on DPA's 4088 directional capsule and uses the company's CORE+ technology.1 The capsule is physically asymmetrical, with a shifted acoustical axis and a tightly controlled proximity effect, which makes it less sensitive to exact placement.1 The boom can be worn on the left or the right, so the microphone can sit beside or just behind the mouth, out of the way of plosives and breath noise.1
The frame is a refined version of DPA's ACT headset frame, the microphone is rated IP58 against dust and moisture, and the headset comes in several colours and sizes, with connectors for the major wireless systems.1
